Green, misty, alive with jungle sounds, and more than a little mysterious, Khaosok National Park is southern Thailand’s premier rain forest reserve . You can hear gibbons calling from the treetops; see brilliant beaked hornbills flying  above the emerald canopy; see wild elephants roaming freely over lush mountainsides, where tigers, leopards, and jungle cats stalk their prey by night. More than 48 species of mammals, 184 species of birds and thousands species of trees and plants have been recorded here. And there are many discoveries yet to be made.

Rafflesia, the world largest flower, reaching 80 cm in diameter was recently discovered just a short hike from our resort. HOW TO FIND US Khaosok Rainforest Resort is located along the beautiful Klong Sok River just 100 meters upstream from the bridge which leads to the National Park Headquarters.

Khaosok Rainforest Resort is easily accessible from Phuket, Krabi or Surat Thani by rental car, taxi, and bus, either air-con or local. If you are arriving on your own the National Park entrance is well marked at KM 109 of Highway 401. The trip from Phuket International Airport takes approximately 2 hours while travel times from Krabi and Surat Thani are somewhat shorter. Thai Nature Tours, operating out of Krabi, offer 3 to 4 day package tours and frequent departures to Khaosok Rainforest Resort. Reservations are highly recommended.

This is the ideal outing for the relaxed hike. A leisurely place, ample time for wildlife viewing, and a variety of beautiful destinations to choose from: 3 different waterfalls and Klong-Sok Island.

Our expert guides take you where few have ever traveled before; an off the beaten path total adventure for those ready to rough it. No fringes or fancy meals, here it's basic fried rice in banana leaves with plenty of fruit and water. Wildlife viewing opportunities are the best, but we do insist on small group size, no fires and “no trace” passage.

Elephant Trekking
“Linda”, a 40 year old elephant is at your service for journeys into the jungle. Help the Mahout wash down this magnificent animal, then mount her bareback for a short, but memorable ride thru creaks and forest near the National Park.

Relaxing float down the Klong Sok is just white the doctor recommended for stress reduction. As you glide along thru a Symphony of gentle rapids and quiet pools you may view: Asian fairy bluebirds, brilliant kingfishers and bee eaters, fish eagles, herons, egrets, swiftlets, hornbill, monitor lizard, river otter, squirrel and macaque monkey.
